Welcome

I’m so glad you found your way to our quiet corner of the internet. This blog is a peaceful place for anyone who wants to live a little closer to the earth. Here, we share what inspires us as we grow our own food, eat nutritious meals, and build a life that is practical, beautiful, and resonant.

Nothing here is about being perfect – it’s all about learning, growing, and choosing to live slowly. We focus on intentional decisions rather than perfection. As we work our little homestead from an elevation of 7,000 feet, we constantly learn to adapt and be flexible with nature and with ourselves.

The clay soil is stubborn here in these mountains, and the weather is often dry. Plus, we can tend to have a relatively short growing season (June through September, if we’re lucky!). This space is where I want to share with you the lessons we’ve learned over the last 6 years of homesteading on our 2.5 acres. We’ve learned to raise our own meat, including chickens, rabbits, quail, and ducks. We’ve learned a few different ways to compost and have settled on a method that works for us. And we’ve also found out that sometimes, it’s okay to take a break from trying to do absolutely everything!

So sit back, relax, and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while you catch up on what we’ve been doing over the last 6 years!

*Gardening: Growing food in a harsh high desert climate with minimal rainfall

*Recipes: Creating plant-based meals without overwhelm (& with consideration)

*Home: Organizing a simple, workable home; living with less & spending carefully

*Crafting: Making & mending what we can to fight consumerism & materialism

*Wellness: Choosing to move, eat, & live with intention
